Join me for a fun day making a cake version of your favourite bottled beverage - gin, whisky or wine!
Saturday 20th March
10am - 3pm
The CakeyBake Cake School @ The Hop Farm
Suitable for: Beginners +
This brand new class will be a fun day creating a cake of your choice in the style of a bottle - just in time for Mother's Day!
What we'll cover:
Cutting, stacking, carving and smoothing a perfect bottle shape from scrumptious cake
Making edible modelling materials and hand craftting shapes to match templates
Covering a novelty shaped cake
How to work with size and shape ratios for a realistic bottle shape.
Using embellishments to create a personalised bottle
Working with edible prints
Using edible glaze
Creating a handpainted realistic wood-effect display board
You will take home your completed cake to the design of your choice, ready for celebrating Mother's Day (or any other occasion!).
All the equipment, tools and edible materials you need will be provided for you to use during the class.
This is great class will teach you about proportions, scaled cakes and realistic finishes - as well as being able to make virtually ANY bottle style cake, you'll learn skills that can be applied to many other formats of cake in future.
To make this class as perfect as possible, I will be doing some preparation for each student in advance to ensure they are able to create their preferred bottle - please therefore let me know:
the specific style/brand of bottle you would like to make in the information box when you book your space (I suggest Wine or Spirit bottles as Beer bottles will be a little small for this project).
Please be as specific as possible (for instance 'Hendricks Gin' instead of just 'Gin').
If you would like to personalise your bottle with a name / slogan, please also let me know - happy to try and accommodate any ideas to make your cake perfect (please ssee the picture of student cakes above for ideas on how a label can be personalised)
Our classes take place in our gorgeous new Cake School studio at the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood. For more information about our venue, please click here.
We will provide as much tea, coffee and soft drinks as you would like throughout the day, however, if you have a particular preference, you are of course welcome to bring your own refreshments. Please bring a packed lunch with you - we will take a short break for lunch and it's hungry work so bring something yummy!
Please note: This course does not include baking of cakes - these will be provided for you on the day and will be pre-baked by an external supplier. For this reason, I am unable to cater for any dietary requirements - please email me if this is a problem as I can offer a £6 discount if you would like to bring your own cake :)
